See Kids Dream Program and Event Volunteers
See Kids Dream hosts several events thoughout the year, where additional support is needed. we have a 5K fundraiser in October called Run for a Dream. We also have two program events; one in the winter and one in the spring to celebrate, engage and provide educational opportunities for students participating in the Penny Harvest service learning program. There may be additional event opportunities during the year.
What: Help manage event logistics
When: fall, winter or spring
Time committment: 2 - 3 hours per event
See Kids Dream Advisory Committees
See Kids Dream is a grass roots nonprofit. As we enter our 4th year of operation we are forming committees to help support and sustain our organization. Committee members are expected to attend meetings, provide their professional counsel in their area of expertise and assist on projects identified during committee meetings.
What: Advisory committees: Marketing, Development & Events
When: Monthly or every other monthly meetings and some subcommittee meetings in between committee meetings
Time Commitment: 2 - 5 hours per month
Penny Harvest Community Liaison
A Community Liaison works directly with Penny Harvest students, supporting their efforts to make connections and strengthen our communities. Through attendance at weekly student leader meetings, a Liaison provides assistance, as needed while students conduct their research of community issues. Liaisons work in tandem with a trained school staff member to provide overall encouragement and support and to coordinate arrangements for student meetings with local non-profit organizations. Liaisons also provide regular feedback about student leader meetings to See Kids Dream staff via a link on the See kids Dream website.
What: Student support in a school
When: Weekly meetings from January - March. Meetings usually take place over lunch
Time Commitment: 1 - 2 hours per week for about 3 - 4 months
World Record Penny Chain Event Volunteer
During the Columbus Arts Festival in 2012, See Kids Dream will bring students and adults together to set a new Guinness Book World Record for the longest continuous chain of pennies. The pennies will be a visual representation of all monies raised and donated to help others by Penny Harvest students during the 2011-2012 school year.
What: World Record event committee, logistics or laying pennies
When: Monthly meetings or simply volunteer for a shift during the World Record June 1st - 3rd at Genoa Park
Time Committment: Up to you!
